Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality computing lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support student progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists and therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing detailed feedback to students and parents.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in computing education and incorporate innovative teaching methods into lessons.
  • Support the wider school community through professional development and departmental initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure consistent support for students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in special educational needs settings
  • Strong knowledge of computing and the ability to teach computing to primary aged students
  • Commitment to supporting students with ASD, SEMH, and other special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching computing in a special needs environment
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar
  • Experience with assistive technology and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment in computing
