The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Counsellor - Social Emotional to support students’ mental health and wellbeing. This role will contribute to the school’s counselling programme, provide individual and group counselling, and develop preventative mental health initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in socio-emotional counselling and a passion for student support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the school counselling programme, including needs analysis and early identification of students with mental health needs
- Provide consultation and training for staff and parents on mental health and wellbeing
- Collaborate with community professionals and agencies to support students
- Develop and conduct psycho-educational sessions for students and parents on mental health issues
- Provide individual and group counselling to students
- Work with staff, parents, and agencies regarding students in counselling
- Develop safety plans for individual students as necessary
- Liaise with learning support departments on students with learning issues
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A professional counselling qualification such as a Diploma or a Masters degree in Counselling or Social Work
- Minimum of two years' work experience in socio-emotional counselling with adolescents (ages 10 to 19)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Excellent English and proficiency in Chinese (Putonghua and/or Cantonese speaking)
Preferred
- Previous school counselling experience
- Experience running wellbeing classes and a mentoring programme
