The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure the continuity of learning for students during the absence of teaching staff. This role offers valuable classroom experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact on student progress and school operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, pre-set lessons to whole classes across a range of subjects
  • Manage classroom behaviour to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
  • Assess student progress and update records as required
  • Support students and staff across curriculum and pastoral teams
  • Provide additional assistance during non-cover periods
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure lessons align with learning objectives
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all interactions with students and colleagues

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience working with or caring for children or young people
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies
  • Ability to manage student behaviour in a calm and positive manner

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or classroom support
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work term time only and during INSET days
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
