The Opportunity:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure the continuity of learning for students during the absence of teaching staff. This role offers valuable classroom experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact on student progress and school operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, pre-set lessons to whole classes across a range of subjects
- Manage classroom behaviour to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
- Assess student progress and update records as required
- Support students and staff across curriculum and pastoral teams
- Provide additional assistance during non-cover periods
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure lessons align with learning objectives
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all interactions with students and colleagues
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
- Experience working with or caring for children or young people
- Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies
- Ability to manage student behaviour in a calm and positive manner
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or classroom support
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Flexibility to work term time only and during INSET days
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
