The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will support students with prepared resources and provide guidance to help them achieve their full potential. This is a key role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring a safe and focused learning environment.
  • Support students in completing prepared resources and provide in-class guidance where needed.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and other staff members to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Uphold the school’s ethos and values at all times, promoting a culture of learning and achievement.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to cover duties and lesson planning.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure consistency in teaching standards.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and supervisory skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and report any concerns or issues promptly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working with primary or secondary age students.
  • Ability to manage and supervise whole classes effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and vision.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience in whole class teaching or cover supervision.
  • Knowledge of science subjects or a specialism in science.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and teaching standards.
