The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Criminology Teacher to join our expanding department. This role offers the opportunity to teach Criminology alongside an additional subject such as Psychology or Sociology, and to contribute to a range of enriching student experiences. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a curriculum that is both contemporary and vocational, preparing students for future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Criminology and an additional subject, either Psychology or Sociology, at A-Level.
  • Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons that incorporate real-world contexts and contemporary issues.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular activities such as prison visits, forensic investigations, and guest speaker sessions.
  • Collaborate with university partners and other schools to enhance student learning and professional development.
  • Support students in developing critical thinking and research skills through EPQ tutoring, if applicable.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning through continuous professional development.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive department culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Criminology and/or Sociology.
  • Current or past connection to the UK judicial system in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching A-Level Sociology, particularly the Cambridge OCR syllabus.
  • Experience with EPQ tutoring.
  • Knowledge of youth subcultures and deviance.
  • Experience in teacher training or outreach work.
