Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach the WJEC Level 3 Criminology course to a range of students.
  • Deliver the Cambridge OCR Sociology A-Level syllabus with dynamic and contemporary content.
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons that promote student participation and understanding.
  • Support students in EPQ tutoring and provide guidance on academic and career pathways.
  • Organise and lead enriching activities such as visits to prisons, forensic CSI days, and guest speaker events.
  • Collaborate with other departments and institutions, including Bournemouth University, to enhance student learning.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and discussion.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Criminology or a closely related subject.
  • Current or past connection to the UK judicial system in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Ability to teach an additional subject, such as Psychology or Sociology, alongside Criminology.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Cambridge OCR Sociology A-Level syllabus.
  • Background in EPQ tutoring or similar enrichment activities.
  • Experience working with sixth-form students and in a post-16 teaching environment.
  • Familiarity with teacher training or outreach work.
