Summary:

Curriculum Leader Geography to lead and develop the Geography curriculum at a school.

The Opportunity:

As a Curriculum Leader Geography, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering an outstanding Geography curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a subject specialism and contribute to the ongoing success of a school undergoing significant development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Geography curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment across the subject.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers to improve teaching quality and student outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to align curriculum goals with school and trust priorities.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Collaborate with other curriculum leaders to ensure a cohesive and effective EBACC programme.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider school improvement agenda.
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects the school’s values and prepares students for future success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a curriculum specialism, ideally in Geography.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school undergoing improvement or transformation.
  • Familiarity with the EBACC framework and its delivery.
  • Experience in leading professional development for teachers.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and pedagogical trends.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar structure.
