Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality science curriculum aligned with national standards and the school’s strategic goals.
  • Support and mentor science teachers to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform curriculum improvements and interventions.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and curriculum teams to ensure consistency and quality across the school.
  • Lead professional development sessions for science staff to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the curriculum leader to ensure seamless delivery of science education across all key stages.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, innovation, and high expectations within the science department.
  • Engage with external partners and initiatives to enhance science education opportunities for students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in science education at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of teachers.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and assessment strategies.
  • Experience in driving improvement and raising standards in science education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leadership roles within a school or multi-academy trust.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement frameworks.
  • Experience with cross-phase collaboration and professional development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of STEM education and extracurricular science programs.
