The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Director of Learning - Maths, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the school and leading the maths faculty to deliver outstanding learning outcomes. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people in a disadvantaged community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the maths curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all learners and supports high achievement.
  • Support and mentor maths teachers to enhance teaching quality and raise pupil attainment.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive school improvement and ensure alignment with the school’s vision and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the maths department, implementing strategies to improve outcomes and address challenges.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to teaching and learning across the school.
  • Represent the maths department in meetings, inspections, and external engagements.
  • Ensure the maths faculty is fully engaged in the school’s leadership programme and values-based approach.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Proven ability to teach to GCSE standard.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a successful faculty and improving pupil outcomes.
  • Strong organisational, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in coaching and motivating colleagues to achieve targets.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Leadership experience within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
  • Experience in working within a faith-based educational setting.
  • Experience in delivering leadership training or development programmes.
