The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of English, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the English department and supporting the school’s mission to deliver outstanding learning experiences. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact on students and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support the Head of School in the strategic leadership and management of the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of English staff and students.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the trust to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Ensure that safeguarding and child protection policies are upheld and embedded in all aspects of the role.
  • Contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives and strategies.
  • Represent the school in external meetings and events as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar structure.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Deputy Head or Head of Department role.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
