The Opportunity:

The Deputy Head of Lower School plays a key role in leading the Lower School, which includes the Early Years Centre and Pre-Prep School. This position is ideal for a dynamic and visionary leader who wants to shape the educational experience of young learners and support the school’s mission of academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Lower School, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and a positive learning environment.
  • Support the Head of Lower School in strategic planning, curriculum development, and staff management.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence across all areas of the Lower School.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement school-wide policies and initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor teaching and support staff, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities to enhance the student experience.
  • Represent the Lower School at school events, parent meetings, and external engagements.
  • Promote the school’s values and mission through daily leadership and communication.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably in a school leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of early years and primary education, including curriculum development and pedagogical best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team of educators and support staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with relevant experience or training.

Preferred

  • Experience in a British or international school environment.
  • Familiarity with the Harrow educational philosophy and traditions.
  • Experience in managing boarding or day school operations.
  • Strong understanding of educational leadership frameworks and school improvement strategies.
  • Fluency in English and other languages is an advantage.
