The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Deputy Head of Secondary (Pastoral) with DSL experience to lead and support the pastoral care system. This role is essential in ensuring student wellbeing, academic progress, and a positive school culture. The successful candidate will play a key part in shaping the future of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral care system for secondary students.
- Provide guidance and support to students, staff, and parents in matters related to student wellbeing.
- Ensure the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with the Head of School and other senior leaders to develop and deliver the school’s pastoral strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral support systems and make recommendations for improvement.
- Deliver Key Stage 3&4 PSHE lessons and support the teaching of one additional subject.
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and manage child protection cases in accordance with school and statutory requirements.
- Support the professional development of staff and contribute to staff training and development initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a middle leadership position.
- Proven teaching experience in the relevant subject area and knowledge of the Curriculum of England and CAIE.
- DSL experience and a strong understanding of child safeguarding procedures.
- English proficiency and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Clear ICPC Check/Police Report and willingness to undergo child protection screening.
Preferred
- Experience teaching PSHE at Key Stage 3&4.
- Experience in a similar leadership role within an international school setting.
- Familiarity with international curriculum standards and best practices in pastoral care.
