The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Student Services, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing and inclusion of all students. This position involves leading safeguarding efforts, supporting student voice, and fostering strong family and community partnerships. It is a strategic role with a direct impact on student success and organisational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, attendance, and health and welfare standards.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for a designated cohort.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Champion inclusive practices and support student voice and self-advocacy.
  • Contribute to the school’s leadership and continuous improvement agenda.
  • Liaise with parents, external agencies, and the local authority.
  • Promote inclusive classroom practice and equitable staffing.
  • Support the school’s “Inclusion and Belonging” culture in line with Ofsted standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral, SEND, or multi-agency role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to support students with complex and diverse needs.

Preferred

  • Qualification in the education of children with SEN.
  • Recent experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Experience working with ASC students.
