The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Head of Year, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Year to manage a Year Group with a focus on student welfare, behaviour, and safeguarding. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Year in managing a Year Group and overseeing pastoral welfare initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with families and collaborate with senior leadership to ensure student needs are met.
  • Drive initiatives to improve attendance and student behaviour.
  • Implement targeted interventions and track progress for vulnerable students.
  • Ensure all safeguarding matters are managed in line with school and statutory requirements.
  • Promote the Oasis ethos through modelling and supporting positive student behaviour.
  • Work closely with colleagues to deliver a consistent and supportive pastoral approach across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage and support students with complex needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Experience in delivering targeted interventions and tracking student progress.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Deputy Head of Year or similar role.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral support systems and student welfare frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Oasis ethos and values.
