The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head (Pastoral), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s pastoral strategy and supporting the senior leadership team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student well-being and school culture, while contributing to the strategic development of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s pastoral care framework to ensure the well-being and personal development of all students.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement and monitor policies and initiatives across the foundation.
  • Support the Headteacher in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring a positive school environment.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive community.
  • Oversee the delivery of pastoral programs and ensure they align with the school’s educational philosophy.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the school and the wider foundation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral initiatives and report findings to senior leadership.
  • Promote a culture of care, respect, and high academic standards across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Strong record of success in teaching and management, with a commitment to student well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex pastoral programs.
  • Experience in strategic planning and development within a school or educational institution.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a foundation or multi-academy trust.
  • Background in leading initiatives related to student well-being and personal development.
  • Familiarity with the Mill Hill Education Group’s values and mission.
  • Experience in managing large teams and delivering high-quality pastoral care.
