The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly driven Deputy Headteacher - Behaviour and Safeguarding to lead and develop the strategic direction of the school’s pastoral care. This role offers a clear path to future headship and is ideal for an experienced leader looking to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the strategic direction for the Academy’s pastoral care and safeguarding provision.
- Implement effective behaviour and pastoral policies, practices, and systems across the school.
- Work collaboratively with school and trust leaders to improve student outcomes and well-being.
- Provide strategic leadership in improving attendance and behaviour through data-driven approaches.
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed, including acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL.
- Support and develop staff in delivering a consistent and positive approach to behaviour and pastoral care.
- Promote the school’s values, ethos, and mission to all students and staff.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral initiatives and report progress to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience as an outstanding teacher.
- Significant leadership experience at Assistant Headteacher level or above.
- Extensive experience in a pastoral role, including the development of effective behaviour and safeguarding policies.
- Experience as a DSL or DDSL with a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills to inform strategic decision-making.
- Alignment with the school’s values and commitment to student success.
Preferred
- Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
- Background in curriculum development and student well-being initiatives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, and parents.
