The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all students. Working closely with the DSL and senior leaders, you will support safeguarding practices and respond to concerns with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the DSL in managing all safeguarding duties across the school
- Act as a key contact for staff, students, and families regarding safeguarding concerns
- Respond to, record, and escalate safeguarding issues in line with policy and statutory guidance
- Collaborate with external agencies to ensure effective safeguarding and support
- Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records with timely follow-up
- Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding procedures
- Attend relevant training to enhance safeguarding knowledge and skills
- Promote a culture of safety, respect, and wellbeing across the school
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection
- Strong communication skills with children, families, and professionals
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations
- Experience working as part of a team and building positive relationships
- Commitment to ongoing safeguarding training, including First Aid
- Empathy, integrity, and strong decision-making abilities
Preferred
- Experience in a school or education setting
- Knowledge of statutory safeguarding guidance
- Experience working with external agencies
- Leadership experience or potential for progression into leadership roles
