The Opportunity:
As a Deputy SENDCO, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to succeed. This is an opportunity to shape best practice and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions tailored to the needs of SEND pupils.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve educational and life outcomes for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and carers to ensure consistent support and communication.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching practices and SEND policy.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to support student needs.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide policies and practices related to special educational needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a specialist SEND role or a similar area.
- Strong understanding of special educational needs and disabilities and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in planning and delivering targeted interventions.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership or senior role within SEND provision.
- Knowledge of assessment and intervention frameworks for SEND pupils.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice and related guidance.
