The Opportunity:

A Design Technology Technician is needed to support the Art and DT departments, ensuring smooth operation and a safe learning environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining equipment, preparing resources, and assisting with practical teaching across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage materials and resources for Design and Technology and Art lessons.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed in all practical areas.
  • Maintain stock levels and regularly inspect equipment for Art and DT departments.
  • Assist with administration tasks, equipment cleaning, and facility maintenance.
  • Support students and teachers during practical lessons and provide guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to ensure consistent standards and procedures.
  • Undertake training in the safe operation and maintenance of DT equipment and machinery.
  • Occasionally assist with heavy lifting of materials and resources.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a technical or support role within an educational setting.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Willingness to undergo training in the operation and maintenance of DT equipment.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple departments, including occasional support in the Food department.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or college setting.
  • Knowledge of Art and Design Technology curriculum requirements.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
