The Opportunity:

As Director of Finance and Facilities, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s financial strategy and ensuring that facilities and ICT operations support the delivery of high-quality education. This is a strategic leadership role with a direct impact on the school’s sustainability, resource management, and student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise leadership and governors on financial matters and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure sustainability and efficient use of resources.
  • Manage facilities operations, health and safety compliance, and PFI contract liaison.
  • Lead and develop finance, facilities, and IT teams with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support the school’s development plan and align facilities and financial strategies with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection regulations.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and improvement across all areas of finance and facilities management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level education or equivalent with relevant accountancy qualifications (e.g., AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills with experience in financial and budgetary management.
  • Experience in education or a similar sector, with knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing teams within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of ICT operations and facilities management systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans aligned with institutional goals.
