The Opportunity:

As Director of HR, you will be responsible for leading and managing the school’s human resources function. This is a key role in shaping the school’s culture and ensuring all HR processes are effectively managed to meet the needs of a large and diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, and capability processes.
  • Lead and manage the recruitment process, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices.
  • Ensure all HR operational matters, including payroll, sickness/absence, and staff benefits, are handled efficiently.
  • Develop and implement training and development programs for staff.
  • Provide support to senior management in shaping the school’s culture and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted/ISI frameworks and employment legislation.
  • Manage the school’s pension scheme and staff performance reviews.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualification (minimum Level 5 CIPD or equivalent).
  • Experience in a senior HR role within a medium to large-sized organization, ideally in an educational setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and Ofsted/ISI compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • High levels of tact, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence.

Preferred

  • Experience with managing large teams and complex HR processes.
  • Strong understanding of payroll and pension legislation.
  • Experience in handling sensitive employee relations cases.
  • Familiarity with the use of HR management systems and software.
