The Opportunity:

As the Director of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a team to deliver outstanding maths education. This role is central to shaping a forward-thinking curriculum and driving student achievement through data-driven strategies and targeted interventions. You will play a key role in raising standards and fostering a love of mathematics across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor maths departments to ensure consistent and high-quality teaching.
  • Develop and implement a rigorous, engaging maths curriculum aligned with best practice.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and support student progress.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and subject teams to drive school-wide academic success.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development for teachers.
  • Ensure all maths lessons promote problem-solving, reasoning, and fluency.
  • Support the implementation of standardised assessments and retrieval activities.
  • Work closely with colleagues to close learning gaps and raise attainment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a maths education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of maths curriculum development and pedagogy.
  • Experience in driving academic improvement and student outcomes.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of teachers effectively.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or large educational organisation.
  • Background in maths education leadership or senior management.
  • Familiarity with standardised assessments and curriculum frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in raising attainment and closing achievement gaps.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
