The Opportunity:

The Director of Music will lead and inspire a vibrant and ambitious Music Department, shaping a dynamic and impactful music programme that reflects the school’s commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-quality, inclusive and innovative music programme across all year groups.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Academic Music to ensure seamless operations and shared goals.
  • Foster excellence in both curricular and co-curricular music provision.
  • Support and mentor music staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Promote a culture of creativity, performance, and musical excellence throughout the school.
  • Work with external music organisations and industry professionals to enhance opportunities for students.
  • Ensure the music programme aligns with the school’s values and strategic vision.
  • Deliver regular reports and evaluations on the performance and impact of the music department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior music education role.
  • Strong background in music performance, composition, or pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a comprehensive music curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of students.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a large and diverse music department.
  • Background in both academic and performing arts music.
  • Familiarity with international music education standards.
  • Experience with curriculum development and strategic planning.
