Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that engages pupils of all ages and abilities.
  • Lead and manage a team of music staff, providing guidance and support to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality music education.
  • Organise and oversee a wide range of music and drama productions throughout the academic year.
  • Foster a culture of musical excellence and creativity across the school, encouraging participation and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate music into the broader educational experience.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of music facilities and resources.
  • Promote the school's music programme externally through events, performances, and outreach activities.
  • Support the personal and professional development of music staff through training and mentorship.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a music department within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong musical background and performance experience.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the school’s values, including equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and managing music and drama productions.
  • Knowledge of music technology and digital resources.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment in music education.
  • Familiarity with the Stowe Group or similar educational institutions.
