The Opportunity:

As the Director of Music for the Prep School, you will lead and inspire a dynamic and passionate music program for students in Years 3–8. This is a unique opportunity to shape the musical life of the school and foster a vibrant and visible cultural presence across the Prep School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the music program across Years 3–8, ensuring high standards of teaching and performance.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that promotes participation, creativity, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate music into the broader school experience.
  • Organize and oversee performances, competitions, and events that celebrate student talent and achievement.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Support the development of young musicians through mentorship and guidance.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of music facilities and resources.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity and excellence in music education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a music program in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality music education and performance.
  • Experience in curriculum development and teaching across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational school setting.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of musical genres and instruments.
  • Experience in working with young musicians and managing music events.
  • Knowledge of music technology and recording techniques.
