The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Drum Kit Teacher to inspire young musicians aged 6–13. This role offers the chance to teach both beginners and advanced students, with the flexibility of approximately 1.5 to 2 days of work per week, and occasional additional opportunities during school events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and inspire students of varying skill levels in drum kit techniques and music theory.
  • Develop engaging and creative lesson plans that cater to the needs of young learners.
  • Encourage a lifelong love of music and performance through interactive and inspiring teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Music department to support school concerts and productions.
  • Provide feedback and support to students to help them improve and achieve their musical goals.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and creativity.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the broader music and arts culture of the school.
  • Ensure that all teaching activities align with the school’s values and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching drum kit to children aged 6–13.
  • Strong musical ability and passion for music education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in performing and teaching aspects of orchestral percussion.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with music technology and digital teaching tools.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
