DT Technician - Full Time role with emphasis on practical learning and technical support.

The Opportunity:
As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, inspiring, and functional workshop environment that supports hands-on learning. This role is essential in helping students develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence through Design & Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organise, and set up materials, components, and equipment for lessons.
- Support pupils during practical activities where appropriate.
- Ensure all machinery, tools, and equipment are well maintained and safe to use.
- Manage maintenance schedules and arrange servicing or repairs.
- Uphold rigorous Health & Safety standards across the workshop.
- Monitor stock, order materials, and manage supplier relationships.
- Keep DT spaces tidy, organised, and conducive to effective learning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support lesson delivery and department development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar technical role, either in education or industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in a workshop environment.
- Confidence operating and maintaining a range of machinery, tools, and materials.
- Excellent organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
- A proactive, positive approach and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills and the willingness to work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team.
- A commitment to creating a safe, productive, and inspiring learning space.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or further education setting.
- Familiarity with a wide range of workshop tools and equipment.
- Previous experience in a small, close-knit team environment.
- Passion for supporting young people’s practical learning and development.
