The Opportunity:
We are seeking an EAL Teacher to support young people who are learning English as an additional language. This role involves delivering high-quality EAL intervention classes and helping students progress academically and linguistically during the early stages of English acquisition. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with a passion for education and a commitment to making a difference in students’ lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality EAL intervention classes tailored to the needs of students at the early stages of English language acquisition.
- Adapt and develop schemes of learning to support the language and academic progress of EAL pupils.
- Provide prompt translation and interpreting services where required.
- Support home-school liaison to ensure effective communication with families.
- Plan and deliver curricular and extra-curricular EAL activities, including reading interventions and ESOL lessons.
- Maintain excellent literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills to support teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality EAL intervention classes.
- Experience in delivering curricular and extra-curricular EAL activities.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Knowledge of the ESOL curriculum.
Preferred
- Experience in providing high-standard translation/interpreting.
- Experience in providing high-quality home-school liaison.
- Experience with teaching EAL pupils at the early stages of English language acquisition.
- CELTA/TEFL qualification.
