The Opportunity:

We are seeking an EAL Teacher to support young people who are learning English as an additional language. This role involves delivering high-quality EAL intervention classes and helping students progress academically and linguistically during the early stages of English acquisition. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with a passion for education and a commitment to making a difference in students’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality EAL intervention classes tailored to the needs of students at the early stages of English language acquisition.
  • Adapt and develop schemes of learning to support the language and academic progress of EAL pupils.
  • Provide prompt translation and interpreting services where required.
  • Support home-school liaison to ensure effective communication with families.
  • Plan and deliver curricular and extra-curricular EAL activities, including reading interventions and ESOL lessons.
  • Maintain excellent literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills to support teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality EAL intervention classes.
  • Experience in delivering curricular and extra-curricular EAL activities.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Knowledge of the ESOL curriculum.

Preferred

  • Experience in providing high-standard translation/interpreting.
  • Experience in providing high-quality home-school liaison.
  • Experience with teaching EAL pupils at the early stages of English language acquisition.
  • CELTA/TEFL qualification.
