Key Responsibilities:
- Teach EAL throughout the MYP program (Grades 6-10) using a concept-based and UDL approach.
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the EAL Department and other academic departments.
- Co-plan and co-teach with other subject teachers based on student needs and school goals.
- Assess student progress in alignment with the school’s philosophy and ATLs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and Grade Level teachers on student progress and concerns.
- Participate in team planning, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and lifelong learning opportunities.
- Contribute to school events, advisory programs, and extracurricular activities.
- Support students in the Service Learning program and demonstrate a commitment to community engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in English Literature, Linguistics, or a related field, with a degree in Education or teaching license.
- EAL Teaching Certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3+ years of teaching experience.
- Experience in MYP or inquiry-based teaching with a concepts-based approach.
- Understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School and early High School students.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in using technology in the classroom.
Preferred
- Experience teaching in an international school or demonstrated intercultural competence.
- A second teachable subject is an asset.
