About the School:

A school dedicated to providing a progressive early childhood programme for children aged 1.5 to 6 years. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the British Early Years Foundation Stage, it fosters a community of creative lifelong learners.

The Opportunity:

As an Early Years Headteacher, you will lead and guide the team to deliver the highest quality educational programmes in a positive and nurturing environment. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for all aspects of the school’s operations and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational leadership and promote high standards in all areas of student development and educational delivery
  • Guide teaching staff to ensure educational programmes align with the school’s mission, vision, and strategic plan
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with parents and the wider community
  • Coordinate the teaching team schedule, timetables, and all learning documents provided to parents
  • Support marketing and admissions activities through engagement and collaboration
  • Lead the implementation of a progressive learning programme aligned with the established curriculum
  • Coordinate and review the preparation of learning documents, including termly reports, weekly observations, and parent-teacher meeting notes
  • Manage the planning and allocation of learning resources across classrooms and school-wide
  • Lead and facilitate staff appraisals and continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Conduct weekly teacher meetings and monthly school-wide meetings
  • Allocate teaching team schedules efficiently and provide creative solutions for people and resource management
  • Lead and actively participate in the recruitment of teaching team members
  • Resolve conflicts in a fair and professional manner
  • Coordinate curriculum timetables, duties, cover rotas, and use of room schedules
  • Manage extra-curricular activities, including afterschool clubs and playgroups
  • Arrange and provide cover for all classes as needed
  • Work closely with school directors to develop and implement school visions and policies
  • Build strong relationships with parents and address concerns proactively
  • Plan and organise meaningful school events that engage the community
  • Support the admissions team in promoting the school and assessing families for suitability
  • Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring staff understand child protection responsibilities
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Directors for the effective operation of the school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Years or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of Early Years senior leadership experience
  • Experience in teaching children aged between 1-6 years
  • Sound knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach, Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, and Birth to Five Matters documents
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Strong leadership to manage and inspire a wide variety of people
  • Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to embrace change
  • Passion for education and early childhood development

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-lingual schools
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic decision-making and management of key stakeholders
  • Experience in school administration and operations
