The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Ecoliteracy and Geography Teacher to join a dynamic Humanities department and contribute to a curriculum that challenges students to think critically about sustainability, environmental justice, and global interconnectedness. This role offers the chance to shape a forward-thinking educational experience that aligns with the school’s vision for a more sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons that integrate ecoliteracy principles, sustainability, and global citizenship into the Geography and Global Perspectives curriculum.
- Review and refine existing curriculum and lesson plans for Key Stages 3-5, ensuring alignment with the school’s ecological and educational goals.
- Design and lead inquiry-based learning experiences, including fieldwork and educational visits, that encourage students to explore real-world environmental and geographical issues.
- Collaborate with colleagues to embed sustainability and ecoliteracy across the curriculum, enhancing students' understanding of ecological systems and their impact on the world.
- Foster an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and a passion for environmental stewardship.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Native-level English language skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences, or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Geography or related subjects in the UK or a reputable British school overseas
- Proven track record of outstanding GCSE and/or A Level examination results
- Demonstrated ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment with a focus on student achievement and well-being
Preferred
- Experience in developing and delivering A Level or IB Geography and Global Perspectives curricula
- Familiarity with ecoliteracy and sustainability education frameworks
- Experience with curriculum mapping, assessment tools, and data analysis
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with a passion for cross-curricular integration
