The Opportunity:
As an Elementary EAL Teacher, you will support multilingual learners in developing English proficiency and achieving academic success across the curriculum. This role is integral to a schoolwide vision of tiered, student-centered support, working closely with teachers and the Integrated Services team to enhance equitable learning for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support multilingual learners in developing English language proficiency and academic success across all subjects.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, leaders, and the Integrated Services team to co-plan and deliver inclusive instruction.
- Design and implement differentiated instructional strategies aligned with the IB PYP framework.
- Monitor student progress using data systems such as WIDA and MAP, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Provide targeted language support in small group and one-on-one settings.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of EAL programs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and teachers.
- Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s core values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience in EAL or multilingual contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of language acquisition theory, assessment, and curriculum design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Linguistics with a recognized EAL/TESOL qualification.
- Experience co-teaching in inclusive classrooms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred
- IB PYP experience or understanding of inquiry-based learning.
- Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, or Applied Linguistics.
- Additional qualifications/endorsements for working with English Language Learners.
- WIDA Training.
- SIOP Training.
