The Opportunity:

As an Elementary Mandarin Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Mandarin instruction to students from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 6. You will help students develop language skills within the Alberta Education curriculum and the IB Primary Years Programme framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons aligned with the Alberta Education curriculum and IB PYP framework.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural appreciation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Mandarin language instruction with other subjects.
  • Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Participate in school-wide events and professional development opportunities.
  • Support students in both the Mandarin Bilingual Program and Mandarin as a language option.
  • Stay current with best practices in language teaching and bilingual education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with a focus on language instruction.
  • Valid teaching certificate or eligibility for certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary education or language instruction.
  • Strong command of Mandarin and English.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Education curriculum and IB PYP framework.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching in a bilingual or international school setting.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance language learning.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar methodologies.
