Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with the Alberta Education curriculum and the IB PYP framework.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and well-being.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate physical education with other subjects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Develop and implement assessment strategies that support student growth and achievement in physical education.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Participate in school events, parent engagement activities, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance in physical education.
  • Support the school’s mission by contributing to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and student-centered learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Alberta.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta Education curriculum and the IB PYP framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching in an international or IB school setting.
  • Background in sports coaching or extracurricular program development.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance physical education instruction.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
