The Opportunity:
As an English Subject Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in driving student outcomes and leading the development of the English department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to take on a leadership role and contribute to the strategic growth of the department and the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and motivate staff and students, maintaining the highest standards in teaching and learning.
- Lead the development of curriculum areas, teaching strategies, and feedback practices within the English department.
- Ensure pupil progress is regularly assessed and that a collaborative team ethos is maintained across the school.
- Raise the profile of the English curriculum and extra-curricular activities, driving engagement and attainment.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management and teaching skills, delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Support the professional development of the English team and contribute to the strategic direction of the department.
- Collaborate with colleagues, leaders, and students to enhance the learning experience and achievement of all pupils.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a teacher of English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Ability to teach across the full ability and age range.
- Strong leadership and team-working skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in departmental leadership or middle management.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or similar.
- Knowledge of education frameworks such as Making Every Lesson Count.
