Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching practices through lesson observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop and review schemes of work that align with statutory requirements and promote engaging learning experiences.
- Use data effectively to track pupil progress and implement strategies to support underperforming students.
- Ensure consistent marking and assessment practices across the department.
- Support staff in professional development through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the department.
- Develop and deliver booster classes and extension activities to enhance student learning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a teaching team and delivering high-quality instruction.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
- In-depth knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Experience in using data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
Preferred

- Familiarity with AQA specification and KS3 curriculum planning.
