Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and motivate the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
• Monitor and evaluate teaching practices through lesson observations and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop and review schemes of work that align with statutory requirements and promote engaging learning experiences.
• Use data effectively to track pupil progress and implement strategies to support underperforming students.
• Ensure consistent marking and assessment practices across the department.
• Support staff in professional development through training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the department.
• Develop and deliver booster classes and extension activities to enhance student learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading a teaching team and delivering high-quality instruction.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
• In-depth knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Experience in using data to inform teaching and learning strategies.

• Familiarity with AQA specification and KS3 curriculum planning.
