Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction in English and Portuguese, aligning with bilingual learning goals.
  • Design and deliver differentiated lessons following local and international curricula for grades 1-5.
  • Foster language development through strategies that enhance vocabulary, reading comprehension, and communication skills.
  • Create an interactive classroom environment that encourages collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Maintain a positive and structured classroom atmosphere, promoting respect and organization.
  • Use assessments to track student progress and communicate regularly with parents.
  • Incorporate cultural elements into lessons to support language learning and cultural appreciation.

  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on bilingual education best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Fluent in both English and Portuguese, with strong English teaching proficiency.
  • A degree in English, Linguistics, or Education, plus a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • Proven experience in teaching bilingual or dual-language classes, especially in grades 1-5.
  • Expertise in bilingual learning programs and international curricula, such as IB PYP.
  • Strong classroom management skills with a focus on inclusivity and structure.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of bilingual students with varying language proficiencies.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to integrate cultural elements into teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
