The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our school on a temporary basis, starting in January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing department and support the continued success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential academically and personally.
  • Develop and implement engaging and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Support students in preparing for exams and assessments.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and pastoral care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and enhance the standards of the English Department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and staff training sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
  • Relevant teaching experience, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience with GCSE and A Level English qualifications.
  • Experience working in a selective or grammar school.
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) or literacy support.
  • Experience in pastoral care or extra-curricular leadership.
