Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire a love of English and literature.
  • Support students in developing strong writing, reading, and analytical skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and progressive curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and support.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in cross-phase initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
  • Work closely with pastoral staff to support student well-being and personal development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
  • Experience in delivering GCSE-level English courses.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in working with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes.
  • Experience in leading or mentoring other teachers.
  • Familiarity with the use of digital tools in the classroom.
