The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join our Reading team on a full-time, permanent basis. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and GCSE specifications.
  • Utilise modern teaching methods and technologies, including video conferencing and online learning resources.
  • Foster a student-centred, self-directed learning environment that encourages independence and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Engage with students and parents to build positive relationships and ensure a supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and events, contributing to the school’s mission and values.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and educational trends to ensure effective and relevant teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree or equivalent qualification in English or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching English to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS3-KS4).
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and GCSE English exam specifications.
  • Ability to adapt traditional teaching methods to modern, student-centred approaches.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with self-directed learning frameworks and innovative teaching technologies.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital resources.
  • Experience in a school with a global or international focus.
