Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a knowledge-rich English curriculum based on powerful knowledge and traditional teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on shared units of work and resources to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Implement a whole-class feedback policy that reduces marking workload and focuses on student progress.
  • Maintain a warm/strict behaviour system that ensures disruption-free learning and a positive classroom environment.
  • Support student achievement through high-quality instruction and a focus on individual growth and development.
  • Engage in ongoing instructional coaching and professional development to continuously improve teaching practice.
  • Participate in centralised systems for detentions and homework management, reducing administrative burdens.
  • Contribute to a supportive and inclusive school culture that values the success of every student.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified English teacher with proven experience in teaching at the secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for inspiring student achievement.
  • Commitment to a traditional approach to teaching and learning, with a focus on behaviour and curriculum.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and senior leaders.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and collaborative planning.
  • Familiarity with the work of Rosenshine and Lemov, particularly in teaching methodology.
  • Experience with whole-class feedback and low-stakes assessment strategies.
  • Previous involvement in professional development programs such as NPQs.
