The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of students who require tailored support. You will create engaging lessons and foster a classroom environment that encourages confidence, independence, and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualised and small group English lessons
  • Prepare teaching resources, manage registers, and complete student reports
  • Support students in developing confidence and independent learning skills
  • Maintain positive classroom behaviour and communicate regularly with parents
  • Mark and assess student work effectively
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning strategies
  • Stay up to date with curriculum requirements and best practices in education
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a SEND or SEMH setting
  • Commitment to supporting students with complex needs
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or QTLS)

Preferred

  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 or 4
  • Background in SEMH or specialist provision
  • Experience with students who have EHCPs or conditions such as ADHD or ASD
  • Passion for making a positive impact on student outcomes
