Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an engaging and differentiated English curriculum to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support students as a form tutor, promoting their academic and personal development.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and curriculum design.
  • Participate in staff development initiatives and continue professional growth through training and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders.
  • Manage student behavior effectively within a centralized and supportive system.
  • Create a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Proven experience teaching at secondary level, ideally in a multi-ethnic urban school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons using innovative teaching methods and technology.
  • Commitment to high expectations and equality of access for all students.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an 11–18 school setting.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL).
  • Familiarity with interactive teaching technologies and digital resources.
  • Experience in pastoral care and form tutoring.
