The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher Upper School to inspire and lead students aged 11–18 in their academic journey. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student learning and development while contributing to a vibrant, international school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons to students aged 11–18, preparing them for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.
  • Use assessment data effectively to monitor student progress, providing timely support and challenge to maximise individual potential.
  • Embed the school’s values — Respect, Care, Perseverance, Honesty, and Kindness — into all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Promote student wellbeing and resilience, contributing to the delivery of the Cognita Be Well Charter.
  • Play an active role in the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities, events, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Provide detailed feedback and set targets for improvement based on student performance data.
  • Support the development of students’ academic and personal growth through a holistic approach to education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree and a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent).
  • Proven experience of teaching English successfully at secondary school level, with experience preparing students for external examinations.
  • A commitment to holistic education, nurturing both the academic progress and personal development of each student.

Preferred

  • A collaborative and flexible approach, with excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for teaching and a growth mindset, with the ability to inspire students and colleagues.
  • A working knowledge of the Spanish language.
