Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Support the head of department in leading and developing the English team.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures student growth.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Encourage student involvement in the wider life of the English department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Participate in professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Proven ability to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and team-working skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.

Preferred

  • Experience in department leadership or team management.
  • Background in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL).
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement strategies.
