The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher with the potential to lead in Literacy. This role offers the opportunity to shape the curriculum and inspire students while contributing to a school that values innovation, collaboration, and high standards of teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge students across the 11-16 age range.
  • Support the development and implementation of a school-wide literacy strategy.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback to support individual learning needs.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives and events that promote student achievement and well-being.
  • Stay up-to-date with educational research and best practices in English and literacy teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Proven experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Experience in leading or supporting literacy initiatives within a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and a track record of contributing to school improvement.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and inclusive education strategies.
