Summary:
Family Liaison Officer | Build strong relationships with families and external agencies in a supportive SEN school setting.

The Opportunity:
As a Family Liaison Officer, you will play a crucial role in strengthening the partnership between home and school. You will provide direct support to parents, manage communication, and coordinate with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students and families. This role is ideal for someone passionate about pastoral care and family engagement in an SEN environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate and facilitate communication between parents, students, and school staff.
- Manage and resolve complex family and student-related issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
- Coordinate with external agencies, including CAMHS, Social Services, and the LA, to support students and families.
- Organise and lead workshops on topics such as dietary needs, sleep patterns, and family relationships.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Provide guidance and support to families in understanding and navigating educational and welfare processes.
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive support network for families and students.
- Attend meetings and conferences with parents, students, and professionals as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher, social worker, or police officer with relevant pastoral and liaison experience.
- Experience working within a special needs school, preferably with students on the autism spectrum.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging conversations and resolve complex issues.
- Understanding of the EHCP process and associated support systems.
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
Preferred
- Experience in supporting students with complex social, emotional, and communication needs.
- Background in pastoral care or family liaison within an educational setting.
- Experience in organising or delivering family workshops and training sessions.
