The Opportunity:

As a Finance Assistant, you will support the financial operations across multiple schools and colleges, ensuring accurate and timely financial processes. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact in education while working as part of a dynamic and values-driven team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Student Bursary team by assessing applications and ensuring students receive the support they need.
  • Set up, monitor, and reconcile student trip and sale accounts.
  • Prepare and check monthly payments to suppliers with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, suppliers, and auditors regarding financial matters.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Collaborate with the shared services team to support finance, health and safety, estates, and MIS operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Good level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience using computerised administration systems.
  • Patient and understanding telephone manner for handling sensitive conversations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in a finance or administration role within an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with financial systems used in schools or colleges.
  • Experience with bursary or student support processes.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
