The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Food and Design Technology Technician to support students with speech and language difficulties in KS3 and KS4. This role involves leading extra-curricular activities, managing resources, and working closely with teaching staff to ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching staff in delivering Food and Design Technology lessons to students with special educational needs.
- Lead and manage extra-curricular food-related clubs and activities.
- Order, prepare, and manage project materials, tools, and equipment for the department.
- Maintain a safe and well-organised learning environment through routine safety and maintenance checks.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Promote positive behaviour and support students in a nurturing environment.
- Work independently and as part of a team, managing groups of students effectively.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and food hygiene regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSEs in relevant subjects.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience in a Food Technician or equivalent learning support role.
- Experience in a Design and Technology Technician or equivalent learning support role.
- Ability to manage groups of children and cope with challenging behaviour.
Preferred
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Health and safety qualification.
- Experience in behaviour support management.
- Training in speech and language support programmes.
