The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Food and Design Technology Technician to support students with speech and language difficulties in KS3 and KS4. This role involves leading extra-curricular activities, managing resources, and working closely with teaching staff to ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff in delivering Food and Design Technology lessons to students with special educational needs.
  • Lead and manage extra-curricular food-related clubs and activities.
  • Order, prepare, and manage project materials, tools, and equipment for the department.
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised learning environment through routine safety and maintenance checks.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support students in a nurturing environment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, managing groups of students effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and food hygiene regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSEs in relevant subjects.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience in a Food Technician or equivalent learning support role.
  • Experience in a Design and Technology Technician or equivalent learning support role.
  • Ability to manage groups of children and cope with challenging behaviour.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Health and safety qualification.
  • Experience in behaviour support management.
  • Training in speech and language support programmes.
