The Opportunity:

As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the school’s catering services. This includes preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and servery areas, and managing the cashless tills system. You will work as part of a dedicated team that values collaboration and a strong sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve meals in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, servery, and associated areas.
  • Operate and manage the cashless tills system accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with general duties as required to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Work sensitively with students and colleagues, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Support the team in meeting the school’s high standards of service and care.
  • Ensure all equipment and areas are left in a clean and orderly condition at the end of each shift.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A flexible and positive attitude with a strong team spirit.
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and in a busy environment.
  • Commitment to working sensitively with young people.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene or willingness to obtain relevant certification.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a food service or catering role.
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of cashless payment systems.
